“ Best. Food. In. NYC. We were traveling in on a rainy day, looking for something fast, affordable, and comforting; and ramen is our go-to. The line was out the door and down the sidewalk, but don’t be scared off: it moved fast. We waited maybe 15 minutes, tops. They’ve got this down to a science. We were brand new to ICHIRAN, so if you’re nervous, here’s how easy it is: You enter → place your order at the kiosk → get your tickets → wait to be seated → hand over the tickets → get food → be happy. It’s entirely possible to eat here without saying a single word. It’s that smooth, that fast, and that delicious. The ramen? Best we’ve ever had. And we’ve had a lot. The broth was unreal, the kind that ruins you for other ramen forever. A genuine core memory was made that day. The space itself is cozy and peaceful, even in the middle of the busiest part of NYC. Great for solo diners or small groups (no more than three: you sit in a row, not really together). If you love ramen, this is a must. If you don’t love ramen yet, you will after this. ”
“ I absolutely loved my experience here. My daughter and I was in the city for the Halloween parade. Since we both love ramen, we decided to try this place. What a great choice that turned out to be. The decor could use some updating but the concept was intriguing and very authentic to Japanese culture. I had never been to a restaurant where they cater to the introvert. However if you come with friends or family, the divider can be retracted . It’s really neat. But the most important thing is the ramen, it’s really good. The soup is flavorful, it has depth to it. The noodles are perfect, their spicy red sauce is yummy and it pairs well with all the ingredients. The menu is small and straightforward. I guess that’s a good thing because what they specialize in is very good. ”
“ We had Ichiran ramen with all the recommended options. It tasted good—less salty than the one I had at their Harajuku location in Tokyo. The noodles were a bit soft and the chashu slices thinner. The solo dining booths weren’t as private as those in Japan, but it was still fun to see “この一滴が最高の喜びです” (“This one last drop is the greatest joy”) at the bottom of the bowl, the Japanese version of “Good to the last drop”. The wait was a little over 30 minutes, but it was worth it. A nice touch and a reminder of the original experience. ”
“ First place to ever visit on recommendation from Tik Tok user. Worth every dollar spent! Simple ordering process. And you wait for few minutes before a “chamber” opens up. Go with your slip, sir and wait. A very polite server comes up and greets you first. Explains the table setting and then proceeds to take the order slip. The curtain comes down. 5 mins of anxious wait and the food is here. Went for the Classic Tonkotsu Ramen with topping set and cold Matcha tea. Delicious overall. Please visit and experience the no nonsense ramen. Simply loved it! ”
“ Definitely a must visit if you love ramen. The broth was good tier. Go with an appetite and get a second round of noodles to add to your broth for very cheap. I would recommend going up in spice level if you like spice. All of the flavors are customizable to what your preference is including the noodle texture. I also got the grapefruit sparkling cocktail and found it delightful and refreshing. You can fold away the dividers for your party to talk and they move thru people very efficiently. Next time with a party of 2 or 3 I would get an order of Yakibuta and share. ”
